Wobbling up the cobbled lane to the Leaning Tower of Pisa felt like stepping into a postcard—me, buying an empty cone from a gelato vendor and snapping the most theatrical “holding up” photos imaginable: A Pisa gelato on a cone! Ok, so there were many poses of me single-handedly saving Italy, another pose pretending to push it back upright, and a boomerang of me pretending to climb it like a mischief-loving mountain goat. I left a trail of goofy proof—declaring “Best Italian Vacation Ever”. If a monument could giggle, I’m convinced it did; mission accomplished—undeniable, slightly ridiculous, utterly unforgettable evidence that my Italian holiday was top-tier.

I couldn’t wait to get here - as I’ve ridden across town with my motorcycle tour guide, weaving through busy streets, mountain loops, and terraced fields, stopping at iconic spots that each told a different story of the region. As I reach this destination, clouds blanket the sky then cool breeze teases at the mist, and slowly the veil parts - the Golden Bridge emerges—an elegant ribbon of gold held by majestic hands. Each step along the bridge feels suspended between earth and sky. For a moment the world narrows to the curve of the bridge and the vastness around it—a breathtaking span that seems to hold the sky itself.

I was awestruck watching the Supertree light show by the Bay of Singapore. These towering sculptures are a rhapsody of light and sound—mind‑blowing, spine‑tingling, the kind of spectacle that leaves you with goosebumps and the unmistakable feeling that you’ve just had the best time of your life. The night sky itself seemed to glow, stitched together by those luminous trees as they pulsed and shifted in perfect choreography.

It’s pouring, but the rain only sharpens Shifen Old Street’s colors. An old railway runs straight through a bustling market, umbrellas bobbing, vendors calling, and steam drifting from noodle stalls. Giant sky lanterns—bright as koi—are painted with wishes and set free into the wet, gleaming air. Joy and hope hang in every lantern; the glow is beautiful, but what lingered in my mind was a couple standing on the tracks. They held each other tight, eyes lifted to the same small point in the sky—what did they wish for? The rain kept falling, but it couldn’t wash away that quiet, hopeful moment.
